The Franklin Theatre will present the Nashville premiere of the award winning music/bio documentary about the legendary outlaw country singer/songwriter, Jerry Jeff Walker at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Walker and his wife, Susan, started their own music label in 1984 after leaving a major label. Their action became a precursor to the increasingly fractured but growing independent recording industry of today, according to a press release about the film, “OK Buckaroos: The Life, Music and Good Times of Jerry Jeff Walker.”
Three years in the making, the film is on a brief theatrical run before its official release. The filmmakers will be on hand for a question and answer following the screening.
“It’s a love story” says director Patrick Tourville. “Most other ‘rock and roll couple’ stories end up very different but I was attracted to other more relevant aspects of their relationship and their ability to see really tough times through.”
Tickets are $12 and available at 615-538-2076 or franklintheatre.com.
